First Home Owners Queensland As a component of the recent budget announcements the Federal Government offers a First Home Owner Grant to "encourage and assist home ownership and to offset the effect of the GST on home ownership." In Queensland the new budget stipulates that from1st July 2010 to 30th June 2011 the purchaser of a newly constructed First Home will receive up to $10,500 in grants. While for those purchasing an existing dwelling as their first home, they will be eligible for a $7,000 grant.
